    How does GOOD IDEA work?

GOOD IDEA is a mildly and naturally flavored sparkling water that contains a patented blend of amino acids and the mineral chromium. The five amino acids and the chromium are so-called essentials. This means that they are necessary for your metabolism and that you need to get them through your food since the body cannot produce them by itself.

When you drink GOOD IDEA before and with your meal, it will help your body take care of the carbohydrates in your food more efficiently. The amino acids will prime your body for the food that is coming. At the same time, the chromium increases your sensitivity to insulin*, meaning that less is needed to push the energy from your food into the cells. The result is balanced blood sugar through a lower and slower blood sugar rise after eating. This effect is clinically proven in independent studies with healthy people.

*Insulin is a hormone that transports energy, in the form of glucose, into the cells, where it is used as fuel. There is a proven connection between elevated insulin levels and, e.g., obesity.

GOOD IDEA tastes delicious. It is lightly carbonated, with fruity flavors from the Swedish forests. Food pairing was on our minds when we developed the mild and fresh range of flavors. They pair perfectly with everything from pizza and pasta to salads, sushi, burgers, or with whatever is your favorite food.

The Ingredients & How to Use

GOOD IDEA contains a specific blend of five broken down proteins called amino acids. These amino acids act like little worker bees for your body. When paired with a mineral called chromium picolinate, they work together for your metabolism which helps to reduce your blood sugar after meals and provide you more stable energy.

    Carbonated Water

The main ingredient in GOOD IDEA is clear and simple. It’s filtered, reverse osmosis water that is lightly carbonated. This gives GOOD IDEA its light taste with just enough bubbles to make it refreshing.

    5 Amino Acids

L-leucine, l-isoleucine, l-valine, l-threonine, and l-lysine monohydrate are the five amino acids included in each GOOD IDEA beverage.

Leucine isoleucine and valine all belong to a subset of amino acids called branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). The BCAAs impact metabolic functions such as glucose metabolism, glycogen synthesis, and insulin sensitivity. They also play a role in hormone production and protein synthesis.

Threonine is an essential amino acid that aids in the maintenance of protein balance within the body. This protein balance is important for forming collagen, elastin, and tooth enamel. Threonine is both glucogenic and ketogenic, meaning that it can be converted into glucose or degraded directly into acetyl-CoA. Threonine is commonly found in cheeses, meats, fish, and poultry so individuals on vegan and vegetarian diets are susceptible to experiencing low levels of threonine.

Lysine is an essential amino acid, meaning that it needs to be consumed throughout the diet. Lysine is pivotal in the synthesis of collagen and cartilage. In addition, lysine plays a role in converting fatty acids into energy as well as helping to lower cholesterol.

This specific combination of amino acids has been shown to have a glucose-reducing effect. Amino acids slow gastric emptying. This leads to a potential delay in glucose uptake and a ‘priming’ of the stomach that begins with the first sip of GOOD IDEA. In addition to impacting glucose, this amino acid combination has also been shown to have an insulin-simulating effect. This results in a reduction in the postprandial glucose spike. Overall, these amino acids work together to provide more effective energy from the food we eat. Chromium Picolinate

Chromium is a mineral that is essential to our diet. It aids in the modulation of insulin and cholesterol. While a true chromium deficiency is rare, up to 90% of Americans are not consuming enough chromium in their daily diet. Since chromium cannot be naturally produced by the body, we must consume it throughout our diet. There are currently at least six different forms of chromium commercially available. Please keep in mind that the dietary forms (trivalent chromium) should not be confused with the toxic by-product of stainless steel (hexavalent chromium). Chromium picolinate is a specific form of dietary (trivalent) chromium that has been shown to be the most effective and safe.

The benefits of chromium picolinate supplementation involve improved postprandial (after eating) glycemic control, fasting glucose, and insulin sensitivity. The increased insulin sensitivity allows the body to more effectively transport energy into the cells. This influence on insulin may significantly impact the one in five Americans that have metabolic syndrome. For these individuals, improved insulin sensitivity and glucose control can reduce the likelihood of disease and improve overall health.

The combination of chromium picolinate and the five amino acids included in GOOD IDEA (L-Leucine, L-Threonine, L-Lysine Monohydrochloride, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine) have a synergistic effect that not only reduces total blood sugar (20-30% reduction in post-prandial blood glucose), but also helps to improve energy levels, reduce cravings, and improve metabolic health.

    Zinc

Zinc is a trace mineral that is pivotal for growth and development, a healthy immune system, reproduction, building proteins, healing wounds, and creating DNA. A high proportion of Americans are at risk of being zinc deficient. Insufficient intake, poor absorption, or increased metabolic demand of this mineral can lead to a wide range of symptoms. Adding zinc to our diets can help to reduce inflammation, improve immune health, and speed-up healing. It is recommended that adult females consume 8 mg/day and adult males consume 11 mg/day.

    Potassium

Potassium is a mineral important for the proper functioning of nerves and muscle contractions. It also helps us to metabolize carbohydrates, regulate the heartbeat, and insure proper function of the kidneys. This electrolyte is important for the management of proper blood pressure by helping to reduce high sodium levels. The recommended daily intake of potassium for healthy adults is between 3,500 and 4,700 mg.

    Natural Flavors

With natural flavors from Sweeden, we are able to instill GOOD IDEA’s great taste without any sugar or sweetener. We use emulsified berries for our flavors, meaning we heat the berries to separate the caloric content from the essence, or flavor. When you emulsify a berry and make an essence you can't list the whole berry as the ingredient anymore because it is not a whole berry anymore. If we chose to use whole berries or berry juice the drink would contain carbs and sugar. We do not want carbs or sugar in our drinks.
